Three rules that avoid a bad present

  1. Buy sealed, from a shop.Loose packs and bundles of shiny cards from stalls and unknown sellers are where fakes come from.
  2. Check the price first.Type what you were quoted into the price checker below. It sets it against today's prices.
  3. Keep the receipt.Leave the wrap on until the day. A sealed box can go back. An opened one cannot.

Common questions

What Pokémon cards should I buy as a gift?

A sealed Elite Trainer Box of a current set is the safe choice. For a smaller budget buy a tin or a booster bundle. Buy from a shop, not from a stranger online.

How much should I spend on Pokémon cards for a present?

A good small present costs $15 to $30. An Elite Trainer Box is the usual main present. The lists on this page show what each budget buys today.

Are Pokémon cards from supermarkets real?

Yes. Sealed products on the shelf of a supermarket or a toy shop are genuine. The risk is loose cards and cheap lots from stalls and unknown sellers.

What is the best Pokémon card set for a child?

Any set that is in the shops now. Children enjoy the opening more than the set. Choose a product with a Pokémon they like on the box.

Can I return Pokémon cards if they are the wrong ones?

Most shops take back sealed products with a receipt. Opened packs cannot go back, so leave the wrap on until the present is opened.
